Women Love Shopping For Cigars Online

Anyone doing a search of famous women smoking a cigar will find a bevy of photographs. Actresses Angelina Jolie and Demi Moore have tried them. So have supermodels Claudia Schiffer and Heidi Klum.

But the famous are not the only women trying cigars. The numbers of stogie-puffing women may be small—approximately 2 percent of American women responded yes to questions about whether they smoke cigars, versus the figure several decades ago, when Cigar Aficionado magazine reported that only 0.10 of 1% did. Yes, that’s one tenth of 1% in the 1980s. Now, although the percentage figure is still small, cigars have been puffed by roughly 3.2 million women.

Women interviewed feel that the activity of cigar smoking was “rich,” “relaxing,” and “soothing.” In addition, they indicated that it increased togetherness among couples, with one saying “my husband and I love to smoke them together in the bathtub."

This is quite a contrast to the masculine image that cigars have been associated with for years: Winston Churchill, Robert DeNiro, and Mark Twain are all well-known cigar smokers.

The excellent taste of cigars is also a draw for women. Some manufacturers are attempting to market to women by blending sweet flavors, such as chocolate or honey, with the tobacco.

Maybe. There are several advantages to women in shopping via cigars online. It allows choices between infused flavors and stronger tobacco, first. Second, though, because street-based cigar stores are still often oriented toward a masculine clientele, it allows the choice of cigars with the ultimate in convenience and accessibility.
