The story behind the Undercrown is very interesting. The cigar rollers were smoking too many of the Liga Privada T52's, and who can blame them. This was restricting production, so the rollers were allowed to create cigars for personal consumption from the leaves of the plant the T52 comes from, but are not used in the T52. What the rollers created was something quite impressive and with a few tweaks from Jonathan, Steve, and Marvin the Undercrown was born.

I wasn't quite sure what to expect from the Undercrown. It uses different leaves than the T52 and I was expecting something medium bodied and not quite as good as a T52. I was wrong on both counts. The Undercrown is full bodied (awesome) and every bit as good, if not different, than the T52. The cigar is creamy with a very subtle spice and earthy, and just about the most delicious thing I have had all year. The Undercrown is my new favorite cigar.

Mmmm ty, 4th Mar 2020

Look I may be the only one who thinks this is a bit different than the regular undercrown and I don't just mean the size. My box the wrapper was lighter and it gave me a more medium experience than I'm used to with the others. But I'm not saying it's bad. They go great in my humidor next to there cousins with the same names. When I want something with a little more zing I reach for these. Especially for the price. All DE heads should have a box in their humidor. Seriously don't slip.

Great Every Day Smoke!, 20th Jan 2020

This is my go to daily cigar. The price point is great and I love the stick itself. A truly great cigar!

Pretty Good Cigar!, 14th Jan 2020

This is pretty good and mellow smoke from the Undercrown series. Actually its my go to cigar when I just want to relax with a nice drink. These are my humidor keepers! Love them!

Wow what a stick. The flavors were wonderful with draw and burn good. I guess that's the reason I buy some on just about every order I placed. Get yourself some ..you won't be disappointed

The taste on this one is outstanding. I would have given it 5 stars but the couple I've had did not burn evenly . The burn finally caught up to itself but every thing else about this baby outweighed that. Don't be afraid to try some.

High expectations, 22nd Sep 2018

Reviewer: Ronald Cerino

When it comes to DE there is a high standard. The Dogma falls short of that. I now know why these “collaborations” are still around. Mediocre at best, this soft box-press never gets going. Medium at best, the flavor profile is Undercrown Light with a crappy burn/char line. Dogma Canoe should be the name. At 10/$100 you’re better of investing in a box of Undercrown or some Liga #9’s. Sorry guys, you mailed this one in.

Undercrown Robusto, 5th Sep 2013

Reviewer: Henry Albers

These cigars are better than the regular Liga line, in my opinion. This stick was awesome. The construction as usual on all Drew sticks was very good w/ no problems. The full flavor was the best part. Earthy, cacao, and hints of leather make this cigar worth every penny.

Great flavor, tons of smoke., 26th Jun 2013

Reviewer: Jiahn Contreras

This is a great cigar to smoke if you're looking to get into fuller sticks. It smokes like a chimney and every draw is loaded with spice. leather and earthiness that makes this cigar an easy choice for anyone who loves cigars.

Strong flavor, 24th Jun 2013

Reviewer: Michael Winchester

Way too full-bodied for me. I paired this with a glass of Balvenie Doublewood and it definitely helped to take some bite off of the cigar. Nice maduro with a full bodied draw, just not what I look for.

Excellent Full-Body Smoke, 18th Jun 2013

Reviewer: Keith Chiavetta

I purchase this cigar everytime I am in a store or lounge that sells it as it is an outstanding cigar usually priced under $10. Easy draw, even burn, really full flavor. A cigar you want to smoke after a meal with a scotch.

Good, but a bit too strong for me, 5th Jun 2013

Reviewer: ROBERT BROWN

I enjoyed the Undercrown, but right off the bat it was clear that it was a very strong cigar. I was a bit concerned that it might grow in strength, and hoped that it would not, that it would settle down like a lot of cigars that start this way do. It did grow in strength, and I ended up putting it down at about the 2/3 point. Having said that, I enjoyed the flavors, it was just too much strength for me.

A Good End to a Long Day, 4th Jun 2013

Reviewer: MIKE VANHUSS

Great price point for a smoke that doesn't disappoint. Nice oily wrapper that provides a creamy taste with spice and nutty notes till the end. Would pair great with a strong bourbon, smoky scotch or a glass of the red of your choice. Highly recommend for a nice end of the day by the pool or on the deck.

Mellow maker, 4th Jun 2013

Reviewer: David Waddle

Very balanced. The Maduro wrap is my fav. Smooth and mellow. I always pair my cigar with a drink and this is very versatile. Pairs nice with a full bodied Cabernet, bourbon, or a Scottish Stout.

Bow to the Crown, 30th May 2013

Great cigar for the price. Wrapper is dark and oily with nice construction. Lights beautifully and delivers a very soothing, nutty flavor all the way to the nub. Definitely another jewel for Drew Estate.

I am frequently pleased with the Liga Privada line and the Undercrown is no exception. It burned nicely with an excellent draw.A nicely constructed, medium bodied, smoke that I would recommend anytime.

Perfection all rolled up., 28th May 2013

Reviewer: Drew Lyons

Received my Undercrown from CCCo and what a beautiful specimen. Beautiful tight wrapper...firm yet giving. Dry draw full of peppery natural tobacco notes..Great draw.
Lighting it yields a great draw...white smoke..lots of it...great consistant burn and a white ash thru and thru.
Started peppery with a lite woodyish tobacco note and consistantly grew throughout my smoke. Cocoa notes and an occasional creamy buttery note popped out...especially when I paired it...(and I do Recommend) with a sweet porto. Thank goodness to the cool draw...it saved my fingertips when I got down to the Nub....
Highly recommend to All ranges of smokers.....Have at one....

Relaxing afternoon, 25th May 2013

Easy draw and slow burning. Nice flavor. Great for an afternoon relaxing with a book and the dog.

Good everyday smoke, 22nd May 2013

Reviewer: DR. ERIC GOLDENBERG

While not a LP9 or LP52, this cigar is reasonable in price and makes an excellent everyday smoke. Good construction, draw and flaver. Medium to full body in strength with a nice oily wrapper. Good burn without needing to relight or touch up.

Nothing bad about this cigar but nothing great either. Just average but went great with a Wheat Beer!

Undercrown Amazes, 17th May 2013

Reviewer: Paul Pent

Full of complex flavors throughout the cigar. What was so amazing was the way it burned. Perfect. Puts out tons of smoke. The draw was so perfect I want to know how they rolled it so well...

Terrific cigar. Tight, firm and easy draw.Natural slight sweetness of Maduro and full bodied but not overpowering.Very flavorful smoke and enjoyed to the nub. enjoyed immensely.

Undercrown wins again!, 16th May 2013

Reviewer: Jason Schultz

I first smoked an Undercrown in the Corona Viva vitola and fell in love before that first cigar was ash. I have since smoked boxes of them. This is only the second time I have smoked this larger vitola, and I think the only reason I don't smoke it more is I rarely have the 2+ hours it took! That said, if you have the time, this cigar is a great choice. Medium bodied, with complex flavors of natural tobacco and spice throughout... always leaves me wanting another puff. Try it, you won't be disappointed!
