Davidoff Corona 20th Anniversary FSG History

To celebrate our 20th anniversary of being in business Jeff Borysiewicz, Owner of Corona Cigar Company and Davidoff’s Master Blenders have created a uniquely tailored cigar, which includes filler tobacco of Mr. Borysiewicz’s own Florida Sun Grown Tobacco. This very special and unique cigar hand crafted by Davidoff that commemorates the 20th Anniversary of the Corona Cigar Company and their success in the cigar industry.

"We are very proud to be working with Davidoff and there is no way better to celebrate our 20 year milestone of becoming a leader in premium cigar retailing. Our unique and exclusive Florida tobacco farm has truly allowed our company to come full circle as a premium cigar retailer as well as the world's only grower of prized Florida cigar tobacco. We are excited to be able to share with fellow aficionados this unique Davidoff cigar that is blended with our 2014 crop of heirloom Florida Sumatra seed tobacco that was grown on our farm in Clermont, Florida," says Jeff Borysiewicz, president and founder of Corona Cigar Company.

“The Borysiewicz family has been trusted colleagues of Davidoff for over 20 years. As one of our largest partners, the collaboration to create a 20th Anniversary Exclusive Edition incorporating FSG was a natural decision. Davidoff and Corona Cigar Company share many of the same philosophies and principles regarding cigar retailing and tobacco cultivation. It’s important for Davidoff to support Jeff and his family in their efforts to grow and protect the premium cigar industry and tobacco farming in the US,“ says Richard Krutick, Vice President of Marketing.

We are extremely excited about this cigar. In addition to working with a world class cigar maker like Davidoff, this is the first cigar from the Dominican Republic that is made with Florida grown tobacco.

In 2014 Jeff acquired some authentic heirloom Florida Sumatra tobacco seeds and planted a small crop in the Fall of '14. Since the early 1900's Florida Sumatra tobacco was the primary seed used for the shade growing operations in Quincy, Florida, as it produced a light, thin leaf that was very popular at that time. We grew our Florida Sumatra without shade, as a sun grown tobacco. This makes the leaves a little thicker, oilier and more dominant in a blend.

To date, we have only grown one crop of FSG Sumatra tobacco. During the growing season, Tom Ryhiner and Klaas Kelner of Davidoff spent some time at the farm and we agreed to send the entire crop to Davidoff's cigar factory in the Dominican Republic.
