Macanudo Vintage Cabinet Selection 1997
Its celebration time for Macanudo, the flagship brand of General Cigar Co. Macanudo has finally added first maduro to the line, the Macanudo Maduro Vintage 1997. The cigar features a 13-year-old Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, a Honduran binder from the Havana Talanga region and a blend of Brazilian, Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos. These cigars are beautifully presented in a lacquer finished box and each features a one-of-a-kind metal cigar band.
The metal bands are designed with a dual purpose: 1) the band is designed to protect the wrapper when the cigar is being smoked; 2) the band is also designed to act as a humidification gauge.
If the band would appear loose prior to being smoked then the cigar needs some additional humidification. The band should be snug, and once you have lit the cigar and smoked approximately an inch or two the band should then be loose enough to remove at the smoker’s discretion.
Don’t let the metal cigar lead you to believe its all gimmick, the cigar is a wonderful smoke and probably one of the best Macanudo’s of all time. The Macanudo is medium to full bodied smoking experience boasting decadent flavors of coffee bean and cocoa with a slight earthy undertone.
