Leon Jimenes Don Fernando No.4 Cigars

Enjoy The Cigar Made Especially For The Don...
Every year Guillermo Leon produces a batch of Leon Jimenes Don Fernado No.4 cigars for his father’s personal stash; this blend is so good Guillermo wanted to share the cigar with enthusiasts around the world through one retailer at a time.
The cigar comes in Don Fernando’s favorite size, the Leon Jimenes No. 4 and is a blend of Dominican filler tobaccos with an exclusive Cameroon wrapper. The cigar is mild to medium, smooth and nutty with a hint of cedar.
This is a very special cigar with limited availability; so, if you want to smoke what the Don smokes, then the Leon Jimenes Special Father Edition is the cigar.
Below is a story about Leon Jimenes Don Fernando cigars in written by Cigar Cyclopedia's Rich Perelman.
Cigars have been a family business, sometimes for generations.
The Leon family is one of these, in charge of the oldest factory in the Dominican Republic – La Aurora – founded in 1903. They quietly make solid, quality cigars at reasonable prices, such as the popular La Aurora and Leon Jimenes lines.
But they’ve recently become more adventurous and raised their profile with smashing blends like the almost-all-perfecto Aurora Preferidos line (a robusto is made occasionally) introduced in 1998, the Aurora Cien Años blend celebrating the centennial of the factory in 2003 and the Aurora 1495 series introduced last year as a salute to the 510th anniversary of Columbus’s voyage to the New World.
Now, the Leons are opening the family vault.
A special blend, with a full body but a medium-strength taste, featuring a Cameroon-grown wrapper and extra-aged Dominican binder and filler leaves, is made for one person: Don Fernando Leon, the father of current La Aurora president Guillermo Leon.
It’s a corona, made using the Leon Jimenes No. 4 mold (5 5/8 inches by 42 ring), but with more character than the Leon Jimenes line which uses Connecticut-grown or Brazilian maduro wrappers. And it’s more complex than the La Aurora blend, which does use Cameroon wrapper leaves.
The “Don Fernando” as it is known, is not available at your local smokeshop, though. It’s exclusive to only one retailer annually.
It’s offered in specially-imprinted dress boxes of 25 and although it wears the standard Leon Jimenes band, there’s nothing standard about it.
Corona Cigar, as we have written, is a virtual supermarket of cigars with aisle after aisle of selections, missing only the rattle of shopping carts to complete the experience. They have so many cigars on display, they appear to be growing right out of their boxes onto the shelves. The store on West Sand Lake Road hosts dozens of events annually (including private, in-store smoking parties!) and Guillermo Leon has been a repeat guest.
When in Orlando and in the mood for something special, visit Corona Cigar's stores and ask for the “Don.”
*Sad News - Don Fernando Leon passed away April 29, 2009. He was 87 years old. He will be missed. J.B.
