CCC and Casa Fernandez teamed up to create a small-batch cigar that changes the game. Arsenio Ramos, the sixty-year Cuban tobacco blending veteran for Casa Fernandez, and Corona Cigar's tasting panel hammered out a cigar that lives up to the Intensa name. The goal - to create a cigar that would not only be a full-bodied powerhouse, but a cigar with rich, decadent flavors. When we tasted the first prototypes, we sent them packing...not strong enough! Arsenio and his crew needed to go deep into the archives of tobacco aging in AGANORSA's Nicaraguan warehouses and find us tobacco that would push the limits of his palate. The result...a cigar that is so Intense it had our entire tasting panel reeling. The flavor blew us away and the strength was truly intense; intense but not overpowering.
Intensa is a Nicaraguan puro utilizing the "cream of the crop" 100% AGANORSA tobacco. (AGANORSA is the Nicaraguan tobacco growing giant owned by Eduardo Fernandez, who also owns Casa Fernandez Cigars.) The wrapper is a beautiful, toothy, Cuban Corojo '99 seed leaf. Arsenio blended a Media Tiempo maduro binder, Corojo Viso and well aged Corojo Ligero. Intensa is simply an unbelievable cigar. The flavor has a wonderful balance of leather and spices. The strength is very subtle at first because your palate is clouded by the rich, complex flavors, but don’t underestimate this cigar; it can easily deliver a knockout punch. Intensa is a cigar that can go head to head with any Cuban or non-Cuban, full bodied cigar AND leave you with some extra spending money in your wallet.
