Davidoff Diamond Cigar Cutter
Just In From Switzerland - The Recession Is Officially Over!!!
It's that time of year again when the cigar industry holds its annual IPCPR trade show where new cigars, humidors and accessories are introduced. While browsing through all the new sell sheets from the various manufacturers, one in particular made me literally laugh out loud...
Davidoff of Geneva, who has a reputation of being the "Rolex of Cigars" always puts out top of the line (and top of the price range) cigars and accessories. But two of their new products are just ridiculous.
The first item that made me choke was a new $5,000 Diamond Cigar Cutter from Davidoff. This cutter is white gold plated and decorated with 36 teeny tiny diamonds. (How would you like to lose this cutter at the airport?!) The diamonds are 1.5 mm in size and of Top Wesselton and VVS quality and comes with a certificate and lamb nappa pouch for optimum surface protection. Now don't get me wrong, Davidoff cutters are the best in the business, but five thousand dollars for a cigar cutter?
The second new item from our Swiss friends is the Davidoff Octagon Luxe Humidor for the bargain price of $16,000....yes SIXTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS!!! And no, this does not include any cigars or one of those fancy schmantzy diamond cutters either! They are fitted with a removeable basket containing 2 dividers and there are additional dividers underneath the basket to facilitate the orderly storage of your costly cigars. Another highlight of these humidors is the drawer in which to keep your exclusive accessories which springs open when pressed.
Now I don't know what's going on with the economy in Switzerland but based on these two items, the Swiss banking industry must have made one helluva recovery!
But lets get back to reality...Davidoff claims to have made only 30 of the $5,000 cutters and they don't say how many of the $16,000 humidors they made. But my guess is that after the trade show, Davidoff will probably still own 30 cutters and all their humidors. So to help them out, we are going to run one helluva special.
