Cigars bring back memories of a distant past to most cigar smokers. It is one of the reasons we smoke. La Duena, by My Father, has surpassed the expectations of this smoker’s nostalgic memories. Adorning the La Duena is a classically designed red and white label that is reminiscent of a broche often wore by my grandmother on Sundays, but very seldom seen in today’s fashion. The classy design and blending of the La Duena is the creation of master blender Pete Johnson with inspiration from Don Pepin’s daughter Janny. Traditions live on in the Garcia family.
The La Duena is a medium bodied, full flavored cigar. It is firmly constructed of a dark textured Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, and Connecticut and Nicaraguan filler. The unlit aromas that exude from a freshly opened box is enticing and worth every penny. Underlying notes include slight hints of earth, coffee, and cocoa. It finishes with a savory sweet finish, just like grandma’s apple pie. Thank you Don, Pete, and most of all Janny for bringing back those memories…well done!
