Jonathan Drew has a reputation in the cigar industry of taking tobacco blending to extremes. From his botanical ACID cigars to the aromatic Natural cigars to the full-bodied La Vieja Habana - nobody is as experimental as Jonathan. With an open mind and a lot of experimentation and creativity, Jon perfected the most exotic tobacco blend to date with Ambrosia.

First, Jon took Exxotic native spices from South Asia and Europe and blended them with two very distinct and different classes of tobacco - genuine vintage tobacco leaves from Honduras, and Nicaraguan tobacco leaves grown on Drew Estate's farm in Esteli from our very first harvest.

After 120 days of aging, all of the Ambrosia's “ploomed” while vivid and complex tastes developed. The final stage of curing took place in cedar cabinets for 45 days, where the cigars picked up an aromatic quality, enhancing the already unique “Spiced” flavor.

The Combination of such precious spices and this limited supply of vintage tobaccosresulted in a limited production run for this year. Drew Estate is planning to release segments of this batch of Ambrosia every month in areas spread throughout the United States.

Some tasting notes -

The mellow Connecticut Shade wrapper covering Nectar (5x42) and Mother Earth (6x50) can barely contain the explosive, abundant combinations that lie within and linger on the palate for hours.

Special Sumatran wrapper is hand soaked in wine and spiced rum, then laid to rest on aromatic cedar poles that have been individually fire cured with exxotic spices from South Asia. Triple Corona (7x50) and Spice (6x54 torpedo) are the two most robust sizes, both full bodied in character and complex even heavy at various times throughout each smoke.

Rich Cameroon leaf from Africa was selected to encase the robusto sized Vann Reef (5x50), adding sweetness and pronounced aromas to this already diverse combination of European spices and Central American native tobaccos.

Ambrosia cigars have such a complex tobacco blend, it is the most difficult cigar for Jonathan to produce. Trying to describe Ambrosia is a bit difficult since there are no other cigars like it. The aroma of the smoke is pleasantly distinct and unique. In fact, the artwork on the box and band alone are enough to arouse the senses.
