Pete Johnson and Jose “Pepin” Garcia have created some of the most sought after cigars in the industry. Ever since the birth of Tatuaje, Pete Johnson has wanted to create a cigar with one of his all time favorite wrappers, the Connecticut Broadleaf. The dream is becoming a reality for these two masters of the leaf by introducing La Riqueza. The cigar is wrapped in a rustic yet beautiful Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper that can simply be described as dark and juicy. The binder and filler is a unique blend of Nicaraguan tobacco that uses no ligero tobacco. La Riqueza is rich in flavor yet keeps a medium bodied profile. Nestor Miranda has been in the cigar business since 1989. He distributes some of the most well known cigars in the industry like Don Lino, La Aurora and Leon Jimenes. The Special Selection is a signature blend by Nestor Miranda made in Honduras. This cigar is crafted with a Nicaraguan Rosado wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and filler tobacco comprised of Costa Rican and Honduran. The Special Selection offers a rich creamy and pepper notes with and subtle undertones of coffee and herbal spices. SUNDAY SHOWDOWN
We are going to put two cigars up to the challenge every week to see who is the champion of the Sunday Showdown. From now to the end of the year we will pair up cigars for you to do your own mini tasting, The battle sampler will be 5 cigars from each contender. After you referee your own battle, you can send us your comments and vote via e mail. The top 2 cigars will go head to head during the week of the superbowl.  We will have a killer special for the final battle.
 
Playoff Week 1

First week of Sunday Showdown Playoffs and we have 2 titans of Central America battling it out for superiority. First off we have Camacho Cigars, who has been one of the main contenders in growing tobacco in Honduras. Camacho Cigars is comprised of a father-son team that truly put all efforts in to creating the perfect cigar. Julio Eiroa and Christian Eiroa are constantly butting heads about all things tobacco, even though it can lead to silent treatments and heated arguments, but in the end you can tell that these two men truly love tobacco. The Camacho Coyolar is a medium to full bodied smoke with coffee and spice. The Camacho Coyolar is the first cigar to be made by the Erioa’s using tobacco grown outside of their farms in the Ranchos Jamastran in Honduras. A truly unique cigar that only uses Coyolar tobacco and is rich and smooth.

 

To face-off with the Camacho Coyolar, we have Nick Perdomo who has produced countless cigar lines and with consistency that very few companies can contend with. The Perdomo Habano Corojo is a fantastic blend that incorporates 3 different tobaccos from the 3 major growing regions of Nicaragua: Condega, Esteli and Jalapa. All the hard work put into this cigar really paid off, it becomes a complex, medium bodied smoke. Both of these cigars are the product of extensive hard work and deliberation but which will be the crowd favorite in the first week of Sunday Showdown Playoffs
