| Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 Cigars |
|
|
Listed as #5 in Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 Cigars of 2006
Carlos Torano Exodus 1959
In an interview, Charlie Torano was asked, in a roundabout manner, which of the cigars that Carlos Torano makes was his favorite, to which he replied the Carlos Torano 1959 Exodus because “It's a very rich and balanced cigar. And for me, of all our lines (I guess a manufacturer isn't supposed to have a favorite), when I'm home that's really my personal favorite.” And it is an excellent cigar; it was responsible for propelling Carlos Torano from a behind the scenes manufacturer to a household name in the cigar industry. This is a very special cigar for the Toranos because it commemorates the Exodus of expert Cuban cigar families and their impact on the cigar industry after the nationalization of all tobacco farms and cigar factories by the Cuban government in 1959. The Toranos were one of those families.
Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 is a complex cigar that uses tobacco from several different countries. The Wrapper is a dark and silky Habano, the binder is from Honduras, and the filler is varied blend of Dominican, Honduran, Mexican, Nicaraguan, and Costa Rican tobaccos. The cigar is medium to full-bodied but remains smooth and rich. The cigar reminds me of smoking a nice big steak – meaty and slightly sweet, like that perfect medium rare filet. Maybe that’s just me, but it is Charlie Torano’s favorite cigar and one of mine as well. So, there are two opinions, the only opinion that means more than those is your own and if you’re not already a fan of the cigar, I’m sure the quality, consistency, and flavor will convince you.

Carlos Torano Noventa
The Toraño Noventa is a 90th anniversary of Santiago Toraño’s migration from Spain to Cuba. The Toraño family became one of the largest tobacco growers in Cuba till 1960 when the tobacco industry was nationalized. They fled Cuba to Nicaragua and began the whole process all over again. Toraño has become one of the most respected cigar makers in the industry. The Noventa is a medium bodied cigar made from a blend of 4 different regions of Nicaraguan tobacco and a Habano Nicaraguan binder and wrapper. The tobacco in the Noventa has been aged for 5 years and produces a silky smooth spice with bold flavor like freshly roasted coffee. Toraño has been on of the most consistent cigar makers and they take no exceptions with the Noventa.

Carlos Torano Signature - New Lower Prices!
When cigar smokers talk about a cigar’s tobacco being grown from Cuban seed they are referring to the seeds origin. The term used for tobacco that is grown from Cuban seeds is Piloto Cubano. In example, if Cuban seeds were grown in the Dominican Republic the resulting tobacco is called Dominican Piloto Cubano. The man who made this huge contribution to the cigar industry by introducing the world to Piloto Cubano is Carlos Torano. The Torano family is an innovator in the cigar industry. They were one of the first companies to start blending cigars with a wide variety of tobaccos from all over the world; they have used tobacco from the usual countries: Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic, but they also use tobacco from Indonesia, Italy, Peru, Columbia, Mexico, and Panama. They do a lot of blending but that is part of the Torano’s philosophy; they do it to make their cigars different. I think their main philosophy is to make outstanding cigars, and that is just what they do.
The Carlos Torano Signature is one of those outstanding cigars; medium to full-bodied on the medium side the Signature is blended with a Sun Grown Brazilian Maduro, a Connecticut Broadleaf binder, and Dominican Cubano Ligero, as well as Nicaraguan Habano Ligero as the filler. This blend gives the cigar rich, balanced flavors of earth and leather with subtle notes of coffee and cocoa, and a slight cedar spice. The Carlos Torano Signature is an amazing well-rounded cigar with deep flavors and will impress all who enjoy a deep, rich smoke.

| Carlos Torano Virtuoso Cigars |
|
|
Carlos Torano is known for producing blockbuster medium bodied cigars. The Virtuoso breaks that mold by being the fullest bodied Torano blend. Carlos and Charlie Torano are expert tobacco growers, many cigar companies use Torano tobacco in their blends, but the dark and velvety Nicaraguan sun grown wrapper they grow is reserved exclusively for the Virtuoso. The complex flavors of Virtuoso are also enhanced by its diverse blend of filler tobaccos from Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Panamanian tobacco is rarely used in a blend because it is tough to balance, but the Torano family never shies away from a challenge. The Torano’s have perfectly blended the Virtuoso creating a unique cigar with unmatchable flavor. The Virtuoso is medium to full bodied with deep flavors of earth, roasted coffee bean, and coco, all balanced with a hint of cedar spice. The Virtuoso is a cigar created by Virtuosos, for Carlos and Charlie Torano are truly masters of their craft.
