Padilla Series 68

Padilla Series 68 Padilla Series 68 is the final chapter in the trilogy Ernesto released in honor of his father, one of the world’s most renowned poets. The Series 68 stands for 1968, the year Ernesto Padilla’s father compiled his most controversial work, one that ultimately led to his imprisonment in Cuba for speaking out against Castro’s communist regime. Series ’68 is rolled in Honduras using a Nicaraguan Corojo wrapper taken from some of the highest corona leaves on the tobacco plant. This powerful reddish leaf is expertly blended with Cuban seed fillers from Jalapa and Condega, two of Nicaragua’s premier growing regions. No better man could have been chosen to create a cigar that honors a noted Cuban poet and father of cigar manufacturer Ernesto Padilla. In honor of his late father, Heberto Padilla, Ernesto Padilla collaborated with Don Pepin Garcia to create the Padilla Signature 1932. Heberto was born in 1932 and became a prominent Cuban poet and friends with Ernest Hemingway. It was undoubtedly their love of the written word and cigars that brought them together. The Padilla Signature 1932 uses a five year old Cuban Corojo seed, Nicaraguan wrapper with Nicaraguan Criollo binder and filler. The cigar is full-bodied and carries flavors of dark chocolate, dry roasted peanuts and almonds with an amazing spice that turns into a slightly sweet and pleasantly long finish.
